Co-Operative Work Program (Semester Based)

The Co-Operative Work Program offers senior students the opportunity to gain hands-on work experience related to their career interests. Participants are responsible for securing their own employment.

The Co-Operative Work program credit needs to be above the 23.5 credits already needed for graduation.

To participate, students must schedule a meeting with the Co-Op/Intern Coordinator, before the end of their junior year, or over the summer at least two weeks before their first day of school.

Students are not officially in the program until ALL required forms are completed and signed by the appropriate individuals.  Therefore, students WILL NOT be permitted to leave school before the end of day until ALL forms have been submitted to the Co-Op/Internp Coordinator.  Also, students must be employed by mid-August (Semester 1) or mid-December (Semester 2).  Students who are continuing theri co-op employment from Semester 1 to Semester 2, and do not have any changes to their employment WILL NOT need to complete any new paperwork for Semester 2.

Students enrolled in the Co-Op program must work, in a paid position, with a minimum of fifteen (15) hours per week with at least 3-7 of those hours assigned during the school day.  The Co-Op/Intern Coordinator, will collaborate with the school counselor to coordinate the student's experience. The Co-Op/Intern Coordinator will also conduct routine visits to each student’s workplace to meet with both the student and, if possible, their employer. Students are responsible for their own transportation to and from their job sites. Continued participation in the program requires maintaining good academic standing.
