Tryouts will consist of 18 to 36 holes played over several days as weather/time permit. Using those scores as a guide the Varsity/JV team will be selected. The team will generally consist of 12-14 players.
Those trying out are expected to meet the following guidelines:
1. General familiarity with on-course play including etiquette and basic rules (i.e. penalty and procedure after hitting into hazard or out of bounds).
2. Appropriate golf attire.
3. Must demonstrate the ability to consistently shoot 18 hole score under 110 from white tees (Girls; 120 from red tees) at Range End. Note that 110/120 figures are guidelines for those trying out; shooting lower scores does NOT guarantee a spot on the team.
4. Must be ready-to-play. We encourage players to prepare during the months leading up to tryouts. This includes on-course play, practice at range/putting-green as well as seeking professional guidance. Participating in one of the areas summer youth golf tours is a great way for players to build skills and gain experience required at the high school level.
Those not selected for the team will be encouraged to continue to improve through practicing on their own and seeking lessons from a golf professional. They are welcome to tryout for the team next season.Β
